Phonogram Cards

These Phonogram Cards are designed to support early reading and spelling development through clear, focused practice with common English phonograms. The set includes 45 cards covering key phonogram sounds and spelling variations. Each card features seven words and a simple image to support meaning and recognition. The target phonogram is highlighted in red in the first word on each card to help the child visually isolate the sound within a word.

In the Montessori classroom, these cards are typically offered after the child has been introduced to phonetic reading materials. They work well for guided reading practice, sound isolation, and early spelling work. The cards can also be used for simple dictation games, where the adult reads a word aloud and the child writes it, then checks their work against the card.
